My brother was prescribed Xanax about 5 weeks ago. He’s now taking 3 1mg xanax each day. He IS nicer & less emotionally overloaded but how is he going to stop the Xanax or does he have to take it the rest of his life in order to be less of a jerk? (Self-absorbed, argumentative, defensive, impulsive…)

Becoming addicted is a myth. I have been taking them for 6 years straight and I am fine. I was going to quit but after a day or so I decided I didn’t want to. So I just kept taking them and I have never been happier. That’s why you really just have to ask yourself: which came first, the chicken or the egg? A simple 4mg dose isn’t sufficient for someone like myself. My needs command the full force of a quality, high-dose suitable only for those who’ve been hospitalized for lengthy periods of time. A one-week bender usually consists of upwards of nine 10mg tablets. Life is a lot more simple when you’re not preoccupied with issues like how much xanax you’re taking. Just eat it and get a grip already.

I’ve developed a severe driving anxiety when on the highway. I’ve never taken Xanax before but my doctor prescribed me with the lowest dose. Does anyone have any personal experience while driving on Xanax?

How long does Xanax stay detectable in urine compared to Klonopin, or are the both detectable the same amount of time?

I am worried about a friend that started taking xanax bars. She is tall and thin and can pop 2 at a time and she says they dont affect her that much. How many is too many?

The larger question is why your friend is taking the xanax. She’s not going to overdose. It’s a pretty safe drug. The worse that is going to happen is that she might fall asleep, sleep it off then wake up OK. She needs to be educated about the effect of xanax on concentration, ability to drive, perform in school, etc. If she has an issue that she is self medicating, then that needs to be addressed, but overdose? – not gonna’ happen.

I blamed anxiety before for not being outgoing. I am anxious, therefore I have a problem being outgoing. But, could the underlying reason to my reserved behavior be because of say “low confidence in myself?”

And that could apply to anything, from holding a conversation, to work, to school, etc. IF I am not confident in myself, I am anxious, or it could as well be that if I am anxious I am not confident.

Do you think, that both are important in life, that if you have confidence, you have low anxiety. Or that if you work to reduce anxiety, the lower it is, the higher ur confidence?

I don’t think these two emotions are bound together, but they do impact us in ways that make us think they are two sides of a continuum. Low anxiety must mean high confidence, but that is probably not really true.

There is some relationship to our family behaviors when we were being reared that impacts us as to confidence and anxiety. If our parents demonstrated high anxiety, we will be more prone to exhibiting that same behavior. If our parents demonstrated high confidence, we will tend to be more confident.

If you have problems performing due to feelings of anxiety when you try to stand and speak, or find yourself struggling to do your job as you feel a lack of confidence in your ability, then you may need to spend some time with a counselor (maybe your pastor, or a licensed therapist depending on which you would trust more), and try to get to the root cause of the behavior. Do not blame yourself, or anyone else as this is something that can be overcome with help and assistance of a good counselor.

Another really super thing you could do, if you can get past the fear of letting go, is NLP (that is neuro-linguistic programming). NLP is akin to hypnotizing, but more clinically controlled and has a record of really getting results in changing behaviors.

i’ve been prescribed prozac and xanax for my depression and anxiety, but is it safe to take Gensing tablets with them too ?

I have severe anxiety and about a month ago my family doc switched my lexapro to prozac. Not a good outcome. I ended up in the ER this past weekend with a panic attack. So I have xanax and lexapro now. I read that xanax causes weight gain and I know lexapro caused a little in me. I am so stressed!

Klonopin maybe, ask your doctor but the generic form is Clonazepam. Its a benzodiazepine just like alprazolam or xanax and my sister used to take it for anxiety related to OCD so im just suggesting you ask about it. I dont think it causes weight gain like xanax is known to.

I’m doing a drug project and I need to know how many pills/mg of Xanax get someone high and what’s the difference from the normal prescribed amount? Also if you actually need the medicine but aren’t on it will you still get the same high? Also how much does a pill cost on the street, specifically Chicago if possible?

Just about 2 mg will get most people pretty low. there are 2mg xanax tablets and dividoses. Yes, you’ll still get high if you need them. I don’t know about chicago, but I imagine they cost about there too.
